Sticky Notes

They Run My Life

I had the idea last fall that I needed a pad of sticky notes at my bedside to capture those night-clarity thoughts. Those thoughts that are wild and useful but only appear in the half-dreamed wakeful slumber are the ones that always need capturing and never stick around long enough to remember. Those are the ones.

This has turned into hundreds of sticky notes on my nightstand. What would otherwise be rather conservative decorations is juxtaposed with neon green sticky notes. But that doesn't matter. I'm no interior decorator.

It also has crept up into my office. It's the more mature version of tying a string on the finger. More explicit, too.

Sticky Notes are Slick

Sticky notes are really slick.

It would be trite to describe them, though. Go grab a pack. Or appropriate them from the office or something.

They also are nice for making little origami cranes when you're bored. Just ignore the sticky bits.

Throw 'em Out

I like how you can throw them out when you're done with whatever task. However much proponents of paper planners say it's satisfying to cross something out on a todo list or check a box and so on, it is doubly satisfying to crush a sticky note in your hands and toss it out.

Best-Laid Plans

I'll eventually have to cull these notes and compile them into something more useful. That is one of my plans.

It's funny how plans are easy to make and easier to break. I would be remiss to let myself be known for breaking plans. As far as I'm aware, I'm not; my self-perception, though, notes every plan I've broken while immediately forgetting everything I've done. Negativity bias in action hits me in the feels.
