The Dichotomy between the Real and the Digital

There exists within my mind a dichotomy between that which is truly real and that what is digital. I cannot, I am afraid, put into words how much I like Reality (tm). What is real is that which is.

The Evergrowing Desire of Every Tech Worker to Become a Potato Farmer

As I immerse myself in technology, I seem to yearn (often involuntarily) for a radical alteration of my lifestyle. To go from an IT worker to a potato farmer. To go from a tech nerd to a Luddite. To go from a mindless algorithmic slave to a real, thinking, feeling human being.

As I make my daily bread from computers, it seems that I am at odds with myself frequently. How can I be so in love with reality to dedicate so much time to something that is inherently not real? How can I exchange my God-given flesh and blood for a digital 'life'?

Perhaps it is my overthinking nature, that I cannot enjoy whatsoever I enjoy without considering the marginal benefits and costs. How sharp a mind that cuts itself!

It is ironic, then, that the common man seems to be dulling himself more and more on algorithmic sludge. He scrolls on Facebook, where an algorithm tells him what to like, what to wear, what to think; he goes home to watch short videos wherever he chooses to see the same propaganda. He does not necessarily question it; he merely sees it as a passing fad, yet he does not consider the hidden, sublime damage done to his psyche, his nous, his mind and spirit.
